Amine Edge & DANCE Win Bass Category At DJ Awards 2016

amine

Globe-trotting French duo Amine Edge & DANCE have capped another phenomenal year by being crowned winners of the “Bass” category at this year’s DJ Awards. To become the cream of this year’s sub-laden crop, the men from Marseilles had to fend off the challenge of an internationally renowned group of bass-heavy heavyweights including Andy C, Chase and Status, Hannah Wants, DJ EZ and more. The guys will receive the reputable Kryptonite award at the ceremony on 3rd October, at the world famous Pacha in Ibiza.
After blazing into the hearts and minds of the international music community with a modernized twist on low-end house and booty-bass indebted four-to-the-floor, Amine Edge & DANCE have set about developing their own signature sound and are starting to show their true talent and versatility as producers. The pair have recently released a new EP, ‘FCK UR OPINION’, via independent label Desolat helmed by the legendary Loco Dice. The EP features three monster techno tracks that ooze hard bass and showcase another slightly darker side of the AE&D sound, perfectly at home on the Düsseldorf-based label.
Taking influences as diverse as ghettotech pioneer DJ Godfather and golden era hip-hop producers alike and selling out events across Ibiza, Europe and beyond, the pair have also found time to champion new and exciting artists via their burgeoning label, CUFF. Saturday the 8th of October will see the duo bring their CUFF show to Ministry of Sound, an event definitely not to be missed. Expect a night combined with elements of energetic house, hip-hop and techno that impeccably showcase their unique sound. The event will also see accomplished producers SION, Tim Baresko, Chicks Luv US and more selectors stepping things up in The Box.

CUFF Presents Tim Baresko’s ‘The Beginning’ EP

CUFF, the popular label and event series from famed DJ duo Amine Edge & Dance, is proud to present their latest release from talented upcoming French producer Tim Baresko.

Baresko is a staple DJ at CUFF nights, having been picked up by Amine Edge & Dance after having numerous early releases across different labels. He’s played alongside the duo all across Europe, experience that has evidently fed into this well-honed 4 track EP for the label.

Lead single ‘Marilyn Monroe’ alongside Toronto producer Room303 gets the release off to a fantastic start – there’s a hint of a verse-chorus structure as the track alternates between its echoing male vocals and irresistibly catchy synth melody-led breakdowns.

‘Beggin’ introduces a jacking rhythm and powerful bassline, with the ‘beggin for more’ vocal creating an undeniably sexy groove, eventually leading into an insistent build-up and drop.

Third track ‘Big Time’ is a no-nonsense peak time affair, with echoey keys combining with a thunderous bassline and crescending drums.

Finally Tim Baresko pairs with newcomer Jouliey Bergmann for ‘Groove Percussion’. The aptly-named track features a skipping beat with stabs of bass and choppy claps setting the backdrop for a catchy high-pitched percussion melody. This minimalistic yet effective background contrasts nicely with snippets of a Chic-esque vocal, creating a unique take on the CUFF sound.

This latest EP is proof of CUFF’s continuing reign of the bassline-driven take on house that Amine Edge & Dance first made so popular – a sound that is continuing to pack out warehouses and clubs across Europe every weekend.

CUFF present Tainted Souls ‘The Jump Off’ EP – out now

CUFF, the popular label and residency series, is proud to present its latest release from talented upcoming duo Tainted Souls.

Since launching in 2013, the Hertfordshire-based boys have been picked up to play several gigs across Europe and the UK, whilst attracting plenty of attention from numerous labels along the way. Their latest EP for CUFF proves exactly why; a well-produced piece of dancefloor ammunition, ‘The Jump Off’ is a perfect example of the kind of brooding G-House that CUFF has pioneered over the last few years.

‘Fresh Style’ gets the EP off to a great start, with its sci-fiesque samples and steady drums, a vocal demanding “Want a fresh style? Let me show you”, before the launching into a thunderous, moody bassline. The bassline on ‘Jump’ is similarly powerful, set over a more uptempo beat and set off with catchy synths. ‘Lower Ground’, the final track, features an almost cinematic build-up of jittering helicopter-like synths and a pulsating, machine-like bass, before launching into a shuddering drop.

Blending their grime and garage influences with dancefloor-ready rhythms and a dark, dubby style, Tainted Souls have produced an excellent addition to the CUFF repertoire. You can catch them playing at We Are WHSE on October 10th along with label bosses Amine Edge & DANCE.
