New Music: Californian singer-songwriter Ed Prosek releases “Tear It All Down”, first single from upcoming EP

Californian singer-songwriter Ed Prosek releases “Tear It All Down”, the first taste of his upcoming EP Flesh & Blood (due out May). Recorded in Berlin, the artist has flipped the perspective from his previous work, with his new output yielding a much darker, heavier sound. Prosek brings together his singer songwriter roots and a more complex exploration of raw sound, instrumentation and arrangement.

Inspired, in part, by post-apocalyptic 2009 film, The Road, Tear It All Down tells a story of perseverance, but ultimately hopelessness. Borne out through both the lyrical themes and the music itself, it’s as if the very weight of the sound of the chorus is the burden of uncertainty carried by us all, and the emptiness of the verses, the stark and brutal void of the calm before the storm. The fear of the unknown is a palpable presence within the song.

Prosek’s evolution from acoustic singer songwriter to this new direction has been a natural progression through both his personal growth as an artist, and a reflection of a less certain world.

Madalen Duke Gets Revenge on Trinidad James in “Hitlist” Music Video

Madalen Duke’s voice is not from this dimension. Her lustful vocals over twinkling synths and soft basslines will give you goosebumps on first listen.

At the young age of 13, Madalen began writing her own music taking inspiration from some of her childhood favorites—Daughter, Kanye West, Fleet Foxes, Gwen Stefani and Ben Howard. This singer/songwriter has spent the last few months crafting her forthcoming project which rolls out with her debut, emotion-fueled single, Hitlist featuring Trinidad James, available everywhere.

By 16 years old, she wrote and released her first EP, Carnival, while also preparing her live performance at local talent shows. Musical theater and songwriting consumed Madalen’s life throughout high school as she moved to Vancouver to study creative writing, while pursuing her dream of music. It was there that she found her sound – a scintillating hybrid of pop, electro, and house with an expansive vocal range.

Madalen sharpens high fashion pop with a raw Hip-Hop edge creating a unique blend of sounds that is sure to turns heads immediately. Runway ready, shrouded in smoke, armed with a sexy wit, Madalen Duke is about to turn popular music upside down.

EP3 with Otto von Schirach & Warrior Queen

Really proud to announce our next EP, Haul & Pull Up EP3! It’s the last EP in the series, and again highlights some facets of our sound, from melodic club cuts to some Footwork and Booty Bass excursions. Quite happy that we already got some radio and DJ support on this from folks like Machinedrum, Rob Da Bank and Jamz Supernova on BBC Radio 1.

You can now listen to the first track of the EP called Electone, its basically music to hug people in the club to.

“The opener Electone is an instrumental excursion into a melodic corner of club music, with lots of intertwined synth layers and a long build up, culminating in a break that will send shivers to ravers and home listeners alike. This “club love song with no words” is named after the Yamaha Electone organ it was written on.

Following this is Take It Low, another true soundsystem weapon featuring longtime collabo partner Doubla J from Costa Rica. Stripped down to the basics, this bass monster combines both dancehall and booty bass rhythm structures and lets them collide with the well timed vocals while diving into some dubby goodness.

Pump Drop Wine ups the tempo again, coming in at 150 bpm of ultimate rolling bassline heaven. With little more than the catchy meandering vocal to complement the beat, it is all about this disgustingly good sounding bassline that makes this a club sureshot. “This is the part where you pump drop wine and repeat.”

Always good for a surprising collabo, Bene and Jakob finish this EP off with their quite special version of Bitch Better Have My Money (you know, the AMG one). With no other than Miamis finest Otto Von Schirach on vocals, this 1991 cut gets transported to an 2017 club enviroment with ease. ”

All Haul & Pull Up releases are excursions into different kinds of hybrid club music and draw connections to the soundsystem roots of pretty much all of the subgenres and music production styles we love.

Imany Debuts Visual for “Lately” and EP “No Reason No Rhyme” via Ultra

French singer songwriter Imany just released her beautiful EP, No Reason No Rhyme out now on Ultra Music. After seeing incredible success with her song “Don’t Be So Shy” (Filatov & Karas Remix), which garnered Gold status in four countries internationally and over 12 million Shazams, making it among the top 10 Shazams of 2016, Imany is excited to share her new original music.

The five-track EP showcases Imany’s immense singing talents, as her raspy and haunting voice anchors the work, layered on top of a rhythmic quartet which serves as the group’s foundations. Each song more soulful than the last, Imany sheds light on heavy topics like coming to terms with a breaking up in “No Reason No Rhyme,” while “Lately” is a pure declaration of love. “I’m Not Sick But I’m Not Well” has hints of influences from Bob Dylan, and a new acoustic version of “Don’t Be So Shy” accompanies the acclaimed Filatov & Karas remix to round out the EP.

Blending elements of soul, folk, blues and pop, Imany has really come into her own sound and carved her own sonic niche. An intense and passionate work, Imany’s No Reason No Rhyme is the kind of empowering music the world needs right now.

Paired with the release of the EP, Imany also released a music video for her song titled “Lately,” which is part of a larger album work coming out later this year.
