New Headliner Roots Manuva confirmed for Farmfest 2017

ROOTS MANUVA joins previously announced headliners Shobaleader One, Squarepusher’s Live band performing Jazz Funk versions of Squarepusher Classics, plus This Is The Kit, Nightmares on Wax, Greg Wilson, Actress (DJ Set) and more…

Roots Manuva has been described as one of the most influential artists in British musical history and that’s a fair reflection of a man that’s remains at the pinnacle of the UK hip hop scene some 18 years after debut album Brand New Second Hand.

Farmfest is delighted to have secured such a vital talisman and the headline slot will see a full band performing tracks from classic albums such as Run Come Save Me and Slime & Reason, and will no doubt include dance floor smash Witness (1 Hope) – a track that’s likely to send the crowd into a grime-groove frenzy. The show will also feature plenty from latest album, 2015’s Bleeds – a darker, more brooding affair that’s been beautifully arranged and produced.

Due to an unforeseen European booking error – a circumstance that’s out of the festival’s hands – Farmfest is disappointed to have to announce that Tony Allen will no longer be performing at this year’s festival. But we are thrilled to welcome Roots Manuva instead for what promises to be both a powerful and memorable show, and one befitting of a headline slot under the stars on the farm.

Iceland’s Secret Solstice Festival Adds Extra Day with Opening Ceremony featuring Chaka Khan and Secret Guest to 2017 Event

With the fourth edition of Secret Solstice shaping up to be one to remember this summer solstice weekend, June 16-18, 2017 in Reykjavík, Iceland, organizers have announced a special bonus for ticket holders in the form of an opening ceremony with some truly formidable guests. Extending the festivities, ten-time GRAMMY winner and Queen of Funk, Chaka Khan will be joined by Icelandic acts SSSól and Fox Train Safari for this extraordinary event on Thursday, June 15th, 2017, the day before the full festival was scheduled to begin.

“In particular, we’re thrilled to have legendary local super act SSSól attending our opening ceremony, as part of their final tour marking the band’s 30th anniversary,” said Secret Solstice Founder Fred Olafsson when speaking on the announcement.

In addition, as has become something of a tradition for Secret Solstice since 2015, an unannounced secret guest will also be scheduled to play the festival’s 2017 opening ceremony. While the act won’t likely be revealed until the day of the ceremony, the previous two years has seen Busta Rhymes and Sister Sledge filling this slot for the event.

Finally, Native American and Basque Gypsy artist JoaqoPelli, hailing from the USA, will open and bless the downtown Reykjavík event site before festivities begin, in what will be a magical way to kick off Secret Solstice’s 2017 event.

With an already stellar lineup including the Foo Fighters, The Prodigy, Rick Ross, Big Sean, Anderson .Paak, and many more, Secret Solstice’s opening ceremony on Thursday, June 15th, will come at no extra for existing ticket holders (including VIP and other higher level tickets), or those purchasing a full festival ticket in the future. However, for those wanting just to attend just this opening ceremony event, a super-limited number of 2,000 tickets will be available to the public. Going on sale at 11am GMT on April 13th, guests can purchase tickets to jive with Chaka Khan and the rest of the announced acts for only $52 USD (approx. £42/€49/5,900kr) while they last via Eventbrite.

For those wanting to go for the entire event, tickets are available via exclusive ticketing partners Eventbrite and Tix. Travel packages including full international flight, accommodation, and partner festival passes are available in limited numbers from the event’s airline partner WOW air here, and other bespoke travel packages available via Festicket and Festlane. WOW air travel packages currently depart from these North American cities – Boston, Los Angeles, Montreal, Miami, Newark, San Francisco, and Toronto.

Dillon Francis Debuts “Say Less” Featuring G-Eazy, First Release on Francis’ Own IDGAFOS Label

Los Angeles, CA- April 5, 2017- Platinum-seling artist, DJ, and producer Dillon Francis today released his highly anticipated new single “Say Less” featuring G-Eazy. The track is available everywhere today and is the first official release on Francis’ own IDGAFOS record label. To watch a lyric video for the song, click HERE .

The propulsive “Say Less” is a years in the making collaboration. “G-Eazy and I had been talking about making a record for the past four years but our insane touring schedules never let us get in the studio together,” said Francis. “In the beginning of the year it finally worked out when we were both in LA. One session turned into three and now we have our glorious sing that we are so proud of.”

“Dillon’s been the homie forever and we’ve always talked about collaborating, so this was inevitable,” added G-Eazy. “It’s basically the bridge that connects two worlds- it’s where we meet in the middle creatively. It’s a party track about meeting a girl at a music festival and finding love under the influence of multiple illicit substances. It’s about being straight to the point…say less means say no more.”

IDGAFOS originated from Francis’ 2011 song of the same ahem, which at the time, reflected the culmination of his signature musical productions. The term has since evolved into a rallying cry for all things Dillon Francis–his clothing line, epic live show, and now an outlet with which to release his new music. In his own words, IDGAFOS is “to be spirited and happy…to never give a fuck or shit about anything but remaining positive.

IDGAFOS also gets a shout out directly by G-Eazy in ” Say Less”. “In the song you’ll notice G-Eazy says IDGAFOS and little do you know I’m independent now and IDGAFOS is life…and my label,” said Francis.

Francis is set to return to Coachella for performances on April 14th and 21st . For a complete list of upcoming live dates, click HERE.
