Guy Gerber Secret Encounters

Guy Gerber returns to his own RUMORS label, with his first release since the success of last summer’s ‘Rumors On The Dancefloor’ EP, featuring Miss Kittin.

Guy’s RUMORS label has quickly established itself as a breeding ground for innovative and progressive techno, thanks to it’s steadily-growing catalogue of high- calibre productions: RUMORS was the home for Gerber and Puff Daddy’s album 11 11. A fusion of spoken word, rap and diverse shades of electronica that was released as a free download, 11 11 proved Gerber’s willingness to take risks.

‘Secret Encounters’ is Guy’s first solo EP on RUMORS, and more than lives up to the high standard he’s set for the label.
Featuring lead track ‘Secret Encounters’ and B side ‘Full Circle’, the EP strongly channels the atmosphere that Guy aims to create at his RUMORS event series and Ibiza residency; the producer previously revealed snippets of both tracks to the public in a recorded mix live from RUMORS at Destino earlier this summer.

Despite his increasingly busy touring schedule, the ‘Secret Encounters’ EP proves Guy’s love for the studio is as strong as ever. His attention to detail shines through across both tracks, each of which fit in perfectly with the kind of dark, enigmatic house and techno that has become the hallmark of the RUMORS brand.

Red Axes join Guy Gerber for RUMORS this Sunday

With the Ibiza season now in full swing, revered producer Guy Gerber is gearing up for the fourteenth edition of this year’s RUMORS residency on Sunday, 21st August. Held in the beautiful outdoor setting of Destino, a plush events space set atop the cliffs of Talamanca, every RUMORS party promises bespoke, detail-orientated production alongside quality underground house and techno; this week, it comes courtesy of Red Axes and RUMORS residents Jenia Tarsol and Sean Doran.

Also hailing from Guy Gerber’s own hometown of Tel Aviv, Red Axes will be bringing another diverse and exciting set to RUMORS – their previous appearance at the party was recorded and is on the RUMORS Soundcloud. The duo, DJs and producers Dori Sadovnik and Niv Arzi, were raised on a diet of post-punk, new-wave, and Italo-disco at fogged out warehouse and basement parties. Their own productions and remixes have appeared on labels such as I’m a Cliché, Correspondant, and Hivern Discs. Regulars at some of the world’s most respected parties and brands, the pair’s summer touring schedule takes in Belgium, Croatia, New York, Montreal, San Francisco, Germany and London.

Guy’s RUMORS sets have become the stuff of Ibiza legend amongst those in the know, with the parties consistently attracting a clued up and international crowd. Expect a mixture of Guy’s own new and unreleased materials, that of his RUMORS compatriots and a few twists and turns along the way. For a taste of what Guy’s unique RUMORS sets sound like, listen back to a live recording from the 26th June on Soundcloud.

Cassy, Sasha, Dubfire, Kenny Glasgow, Chaim, Nic Fanciulli, Ryan Crosson, Dubfire and Thugfucker are just a selection of names also confirmed to put in an appearance at RUMORS this summer. One of the longest residencies of the 2016 Ibiza season, RUMORS will continue its well curated musical ethos, expanding and building on Guy’s famed residency with a plethora of special guests and magical surprises.

Outside of Ibiza, Guy’s also brought his RUMORS parties to a selection of other special European locations this summer, with two successful parties in Mykonos and Sardinia having been held so far. Guy will also be releasing a new EP, Secret Encounters, on the label on the 2nd September – stay tuned for more RUMORS.

This week at RUMORS – Guy Gerber, Lauren Lane and Echonomist

With the Ibiza season now in full swing, revered producer Guy Gerber is gearing up for the ninth edition of this year’s RUMORS residency on Sunday, 17th July. Held in the beautiful outdoor setting of Destino, a plush events space set atop the cliffs of Talamanca, every RUMORS party promises bespoke, detail-orientated production alongside quality underground house and techno; this week, it comes courtesy of Lauren Lane, Echonomist and WHO.

Lauren Lane first cut her teeth on the fast-paced underground New York club circuit, which provided a solid grounding for her now hectic worldwide tour schedule. With a number of major clubs and festivals under her belt (Paradise Ibiza, elrow Barcelona, SW4 in London, EDC New York and BPM Mexico), Lauren’s DJing prowess has seen her become a RUMORS favourite. As a producer, she’s released EPs both on Nic Fanciulli’s Saved and Eats Everything’s Edible records.

Hailing from Greece, Echonomist has been active since the late 90s under various guises. A prolific and diverse producer, he will also be joining Guy at his upcoming RUMORS label showcase at the respected fabric in London. Support also comes from WHO, an elusive French DJ/producer who has swiftly made a name for himself in Ibiza, thanks to a star turn as resident of both HYTE and the Zoo Project last summer.

For a taste of what Guy Gerber himself has to offer at the residency, you can also now check out a live recording of his set at RUMORS on the 26th June on Soundcloud.
Cassy, dOP, Dubfire, Kenny Glasgow, Chaim, Matthew Dear, Nic Fanciulli, Ryan Crosson, Sasha, Dubfire and Thugfucker are just a selection of names also confirmed to put in an appearance at RUMORS this summer.

Established in 2014, Guy Gerber’s imprint and event series has grown from strength to strength. With a steadily growing catalogue of high-caliber productions, it’s no surprise that RUMORS has established itself as a breeding ground for truly innovative music. On the other hand, the RUMORS events have spread worldwide with showcases during Art Basel Miami, BPM Mexico and events in London, New York, LA, and Buenos Aires. However, it’s the Ibiza residency that set partygoers’s tongues wagging; with the likes of Sasha, Miss Kittin, Kenny Glasgow and Matthew Dear gracing the lineup with Gerber last year, it’s set the standard on what we can expect this season with a long list of special guests already lined up.

One of the longest residencies of the 2016 Ibiza season, RUMORS will continue it’s well curated musical ethos, expanding and building on Guy’s famed residency with a plethora of special guests and magical surprises.

Acid Mondays release ‘Tacos Per Minute’ on Guy Gerber’s RUMORS imprint

The duo Acid Mondays have brought their quirky forms of house and techno to a wealth of respected labels over the years – Warp, Circus and 2020 Vision to name but a few. Now, Negghead and Lex Wolf can add Guy Gerber’s forward-thinking RUMORS to that list, with their humorously-titled ‘Tacos Per Minute’ EP which looks set to add to the imprint’s hard-earned reputation as a breeding ground for innovative techno.

The eponymous lead track features skittering metallic echos, a pulsing sub-bass, distorted vocals and futuristic synth chords for an atmospheric opener.

The first of the B-sides, ‘Mezcalid’ takes things darker and deeper. Rattling, mechanical percussion combines with a satisfyingly heavy, rhythmic bassline before joining skipping riders for an irresistible groove.

That characteristic sub-bass makes a reappearance in ‘Techno Wellies’, a track whose driving drums and uptempo claps set the scene for a multitude of echoing effects and shimmying percussion eventually developing into a samba-esque piece of techno.

The ‘Tacos Per Minute’ EP is a danceable yet quirky techno release, whose attention to percussive detail and slightly dusty feel mark it out as a characteristic Acid Mondays production, sitting comfortably amongst the high-calibre catalogue of RUMORS releases.
