Lil Wayne Premieres New Video for “CoCo” on Noisey

NEW YORK, NY (March 18, 2015) – Today, Noisey is excited to premiere Lil Wayne’s new video for his remix of O.T. Genasis’s “CoCo.” Taken from his latest mixtape Sorry 4 the Wait 2, the video juxtaposes footage of Weezy inside of a cage with archival footage of a younger Wayne rapping alongside Birdman, his longtime friend and Cash Money Records business partner.

Lil Wayne is currently in an ongoing legal battle with Birdman and Cash Money Records over the release of his long-delayed new album Tha Carter V. In context, the video and song — which features lines like “Birdman Jr.? / More like Ugly Duckling” — appears to address the ongoing battle, which Noisey helpfully broke down earlier this year.

VICE started Noisey back in 2011, criss-crossing the globe documenting the year in music from heavy-hitters to tiny garage bands who usually play for their girlfriends and moms. Since then, it has grown into one of the most unique and successful video-driven music sites on the planet. In 2012, Noisey teamed with YouTube as a premium content provider, and built out a series of shows that take a completely fresh take on the world of music. As an editorial resource, reaches millions of people a month, and has become a go-to source for weird music news, artist-sourced content, and VICE’s signature offbeat coverage. Noisey throws parties and shows worldwide, hosts innovative online listening parties for new records, and produces videos for the best artists in the world, like MIA, Die Antwoord, A$AP Rocky, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Noisey is more than just a music site—music is the lens with which we explore youth culture all over the world.

Dem Slackers – Bones

His name might give you the impression of laziness but he is anything but! Dutch born Dem Slackers, barely in his 20’s, already has quite a few titles to his name. His hard and rigorous work ethic and impressive technical ability results in a high volume of floor filling productions.

Next to his Powerhouse debut Rocks ‘n Stones, this Slacker released on labels ranging from Musical Freedom and Ultra to Dim Mak and Big Beat, delivered remixes for Miike Snow, Lil Wayne and The Bloody Beetroots and a string of much in demand bootlegs and mash ups.

Bones features the fantastic vocals of Dutch singer/songwriter Léon Paul Palmen who previously (co)wrote for a.o Martin Garrix, Nicky Romero, Tom Swoon, EDX, The Voyagers, The Voice of Holland 2014 winner Julia van der Toorn and Dutch pop sensation Miss Montreal.
