EDX – Revered

EDX’s latest EP ‘Collateral Effects’ is out now via Enormous Tunes

Off the back of another incredible summer that saw ‘Cool You Off’, ‘Breathin’ and ‘Make Me Feel Good’ become staples in the Beatport chart, EDX looks set to finish the year with the same gusto as he started with his latest EP, ‘Collateral Effects’, which is out now on Enormous Tunes.

With his progressive sound specifically designed to make people smile, the two-track EP delivers some of EDX’s signature melody work that’ll instantly brighten up the dance floor. Its title track ‘Collateral Effects’ features an elevating, nu-disco beat that’s layered with soft male vocals and hints of string and percussion work, whilst the B side named ‘Empathy’ takes things deeper with a dominating kick drum – and a great demonstration of Maurizio Colella, aka EDX’s long-standing dedication to the scene.

After gracing the bill alongside Avicii and Laidback Luke at Ibiza’s coveted open air club Ushuaia back in August, EDX is currently undergoing a massive tour of North America; proving that 2014 has been another stellar year for the Swiss. Besides his notable release success, EDX continues to head up his weekly ‘No Xcuses’ global radio show which presents the works of both popular and up-and-coming house producers’ from around the world – and he’s also a member of up and coming Swiss collective Helvetic Nerds.

With an official music video for ‘Make Me Feel Good’ on the horizon and a remix of Sandy Rivera’s BANG! coming through on Ultra Records, ‘Collateral Effects’ is a perfect way to round off the year and will see you right through the winter months.

EDX’s Indian Summer Remix of Above & Beyond ‘Blue Sky Action’ is out today on Anjunabeats

A Pete Tong endorsed anthem and immediate festival favourite, Above & Beyond’s “Blue Sky Action” (feat. Alex Vargas) has been turning heads globally throughout the summer of 2014. Emotive and atmospheric in typically epic proportions, “Blue Sky Action” now sees a re-imagining by long-time friend of the Anjuna family Maurizio Colella, aka EDX, out now on Anjunabeats.

Equally adept at creating peak-time anthems or contemporary progressive deep house, Maurizio has long been admired by Above & Beyond for his dexterity of sound and memorable melodies. Taking a deeper approach reminiscent of recent hits “Breathin”, “Cool You Off”, “Air For Life” and “Reckless Ardor”, EDX’s “Blue Sky Action” remix is an unflinching dance floor mover. A resolute bassline and tight groove give way to a melancholic chord heavy breakdown, with Alex Vargas emotive vocal carrying throughout the track – before falling back to the ear-grabbing bass heavy riff.

EDX – Breathin’

EDX – Touched (Original Mix)

Swiss dance music star Maurizio Colella, better known as EDX, released a new single “Touched” on Toolroom Records today. Although always a bit of a prolific remixer, EDX has stayed relatively quiet on the release front since “Everything” and “Sunset Miracles” from this past summer. Like much of what we see from this progressive house producer, “Touched” gives us pure uplifting chord progressions with a side of danceable and anthemic melodies.
