LISHI – Dropping Back [stunning new single + music video from Australian artist]

‘Dropping Back’ is the striking new single and video from emerging Sydney artist LISHI, the result of a musical and visual collaboration between herself, engineer/producer Antonia Gauci, and video director Madeleine Purdy.

‘Dropping Back’ tells an emotional story about the suffocating embrace of anxiety and the sweetness of relief through intricate instrumentation, gritty percussion and LISHI’s striking vocals, as they build to a climactic release. LISHI’s innate skill for creating emotional intensity in her melodies is complemented by the exciting production talents of Antonia Gauci (Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Alison Wonderland, DMAs, Vallis Alps) who helped craft the song.

“Working with Antonia was everything I could have asked for. I brought her the lyrics, song structure and chord progression and we just clicked straight away. She understood the song exactly as I did and the whole recording process was so easy and a dream, I’m super excited about what we’ve created” – LISHI

Director/producer Madeleine Purdy (Animal Logic, MTV, Wobs) has created a captivating visual counterpart that really emphasises the track’s intense claustrophobic emotions.

“The video visually explores anxiety and feelings of being overwhelmed. It’s a portrait of a woman paralysed as a faceless threat approaches her. She struggles to move or breath in the face of this threat, and equally struggles to pull herself from the throes of her reaction when it becomes apparent that there is no threat – she is being covered in warmth and light.” – Madeleine Purdy (music video director)
