CEM – Kissing in the name

April 21st, 2017 (Berlin, Germany) — Berlin-based music producer CEM has released his first official EP through Sariton Records: “Kissing in the name“. The worldwide digital release takes place on April 21st, 2017 and is supported by the aggregator Feiyr. CEM’s message is as simple as it is important: Heartfelt music connects and conciliates people. This message is especially precious in times of global tension, hatred and post-factual news.

“I can’t do big politics, but I feel like I have to“, says Cem bluntly. He suggests: “Kissing in the name of unity is way better than killing in the name of religion and economic interests.” As a Turkish immigrant Cem is especially moved by the recent anti-democratic developments in his homeland Turkey.

Cem is an accomplished producer of EDM styles like Ambient, Electronica and Deep House, but has also a deep love for handmade music with guitar, bass and drums. Arno Raffeiner, editor-in-chief of influential German Spex Mag, wrote about Cem’s approach to making music: “A very charming mixture of guitar-influenced music and electronic sounds and patterns. The joy of playing and singing is felt in every track.” The title track is – of course – inspired by the political and timeless guitar classic from RATM: “Killing in the name“.
Kissing in the name contains four genuine and fresh tracks of electronic dance music, soulfully mixed with eclectic styles. In addition to the title track Digitally Yours, Wake Me Up If It Is Friday and Comatose are presented on the EP.

Lodato wins DJ Times remix of the year award

Lodato is an artist who, until a year or two ago, was unknown. The speed at which he has found the limelight is stunning, and his incredible ability as a producer has now been recognised by the industry. The DJ Times have announced Lodato as the winner of their ‘Best Remix of the Year Production’ for his remix of Twenty One Pilots ‘Heathens’. After an astounding six months, which has seen multiple charting hits such as the original production ‘Older’ and an official remix for Clean Bandit, he shows no sign of abating.

Real name Salvatore, Lodato grew up in New York alongside his long-time collaborator Joseph Duveen who also features on his hits ‘Breathe Again’ and ‘Older’. A producer from a young age, he has honed his talent and with his last few releases has shown just how talented he is. With his tracks being picked up by industry heavyweights such as Overdrive, Interscope and Atlantic Records, he is quickly becoming presented to the world as a production powerhouse with a huge future.

The award is indicative of how respected Lodato has already become, and is sure to be the first of many in the future. The revered DJ Times awards are notorious for giving out awards to only those most deserving and it means a lot to Lodato having won. Other winners at the Miami awards show last month included The Chainsmokers and Marshmello. The show was hosted by many artists including Martin Garrix, Armin Van Buuren and Steve Aoki.

Adding the Pioneer CDJ inspired award to his trophy cabinet will fill Lodato with pride, but his previous successes with his singles, including reaching #1 on the Billboard Charts with ‘Older’, mean he will inevitably be striving for even bigger wins in the future.

Dayans delivers the stunning ‘It’s Love’ featuring Dorian Luta

Dayans is a producer who is new on the House Music scene but shows enormous potential. The Italian, based in Grosetto, has burst on to the scene with his new single ‘It’s Love’ featuring Dorian Duta. The energetic track showcases why the producer is causing such a stir within the industry.

From start to finish, the track is abundant with good vibes. The eternal House keyboard alongside powerful, four-to-the-floor beats is classic beyond measure but he manages to add a personal, innovative touch to proceedings. The beautiful, flowing vocals from Duta are the perfect accompaniment to a masterful production. Evocative but all the while happy and invigorating, the song has the potential for big things in the foreseeable future.

Before this release, Dayans has produced some strong remixes, including his own take on Ivan Gough’s ‘In My Mind’. The Electro House banger shows his capability to produce multiple genres, and just how fast his abilities as a producer are evolving.

The track is out now through Valminuta Records. Based in New York, the imprint has released a variety of interesting tracks in its time but Dayans latest release could prove to be one of its biggest yet. The Italian will continue to improve and play shows and before you know it, he will be a household name. Remember where you heard Dayans first!

DJ W!LD ‘Techno City’

Bastion of the Parisian underground scene and Circoloco resident at DC10, Dijon-born DJ W!LD is a longstanding figure who has remained true to his roots since the outset. Having been responsible for an array of over 300 tracks on some of the most respected labels around, W!LD founded his own imprint ‘W’ in 2010.

W!LD has since exercised an unrestrained artistic vision and output on the label. This has culminated in the release of his album ‘Techno City,’ W!LD’s first album in over two years, and a noticeably darker and more stripped back offering than the disco-fuelled production of his last LP ‘When You Feel Me.’

DJ W!LD’s brand of techno is certainly unique. Swathed in sparse melodies and luscious pads, W!LD’s airtight machine funk is a minimal orchestra of 808s, 909s and incisive sample use. Being both inherently danceable and listenable, DJ W!LD’s ‘Techno City’ LP is a purposeful and coherent opus that works both as a whole and individually, as club tracks. With cutting edge production and rich aesthetics, W!LD carries the listener through an array of expansive hues, crescendos and cinematic atmospheres, all underlined by a throbbing sub bass.

This 4/4 techno offering from the French veteran undertakes an ethos of simplicity that is as refreshing as it is clinical. ‘Love on the Beat’ sets the tone from the first kick drum as the swelling bass line glides into ‘Time to Say Goodbye,’ a deft piano break later and ‘Street Religion’ serves up a sweeping disco-synth groove. 90s influenced ‘Americana’ rolls into the hedonism of ‘Aimer et C’est Tout’ before the cinematic, floor filling title track ‘Techno City’ jacks up the energy. ‘All Night’ provides light relief before dialling up the energy into the acid-tinged 5am roller ‘Talking With Hoffman.’ The climax brings us to the undeniable club track on the LP ‘King Hit,’ an orchestra of snare rolls, emotive pads and rising energy topped by a striking vocal sample.

With ‘Techno City’ the Parisian veteran has successfully created a crisp web work of harmonics and functional club tracks that will no doubt make the rounds on the international circuit. DJ W!LD’s ‘Techno City’ is a sonic landscape that proves both an exercise and a master class in the age-old adage ‘less is more.’

DJ W!LD: “The album was inspired by a long winter spent playing dark and murky club rooms around the world. This album came about because I wanted to show a darker and more tech-orientated side of me. I wanted the tracks to give off this impression, and be evocative of the time I spent in these places and the type of music I was playing. I also wanted the album to give a feeling of movement, of a rising energy that builds exponentially from the outset to the finish, moving in the way that a mix or a DJ set does. As always, a combination of sampling and classic hardware use was my main creative output. The album in its entirety is a blend of classical music, acid, New York beats, Detroit techno and of course, a wild touch.”

DJ W!LD’s ‘Techno City’ LP is available now on double vinyl via his ‘W’ label. The digital release will follow soon after.
