Bingo Players drops “No. 1 Disco” on own label Hysteria Records

Originally a concept that Maarten and Paul worked on together back in 2006, the new “No. 1 Disco” is a reworked version of the track that was never officially released, which fans have been requesting for years. Now, more than 10 years later, the track feels more current than ever with its catchy vocals, energetic strings, deep custom kick and dynamic melody, making it feel like rays of sunshine bursting through the speakers.

After hosting a packed out Bingo Beach at Miami’s No Sugar Added party during Miami Music Week 2017, Bingo Players is also making upcoming stops in New York, Las Vegas and Seattle as well as being on Chicago’s Spring Awakening lineup.

Last year, Bingo Players’ Maarten Hoogstraten completed Bingo Players’ 10 Year Anniversary tour which honored Hoogstraten’s late partner Paul Baümer who suddenly passed away from cancer in 2013. Proceeds from every tour ticket sold benefited FuckCancer, which raises support and awareness of early prevention and detection.

Joakim unveils stunning Blanca Li directed visual for ‘Samurai’

Last Friday, Joakim shared his 6th album Samurai. A landmark release in his extensive back catalogue (Tropics of Love, Nothing Gold, Fantomes), the latest LP presents a personal and conceptual body of work about the artist’s journey between NY, Tokyo and Paris.

Today, he unveils a stunning and conceptual piece of visual texture for the title track ‘Samurai’. Directed by the Spanish choreographer Blanca Li (who’s best known work includes directing the Daft Punk ‘Around The World’ video, Beyoncé’s “Mrs. Carter Tour” and recently Robots which showed at the Barbican), the video is shot on the roof of the photographer Paul Colliton’s studio in midtown New York.

The video was inspired by the final scene from Beau Travail by Claire Dennis where the main actor Denis Lavant starts a hysterical dance alone in a kitschy club in Djibouti to a 90s Eurodance track. In Joakim’s vision, the dancer by Daniel Baker uses his body to convey the quest for a new life through stunning contemporary choreography and shows us how to change and let go of someone or something. This is represented by the figure of the Samurai.

Jillionaire, Fuse ODG & Fatman Scoop – Sunrise

On his latest record, Jillionaire reunites with Fuse ODG—the Ghanaian MC who brought his Afro Pop flare to “Light It Up,” the hit single from Major Lazer’s third album, Peace Is The Mission. For good measure, the addition of crowd-motivating ad-libs by Fatman Scoop emphasizes the song’s wide-reaching appeal, from mainstream radio to festival main stages. “I was in London, and met with Fatman Scoop at his studio. He mentioned he wanted to work with Fuse. I hit Fuse, and he came through,” recounts Jillionaire about the recording session. “All vocals were tracked that night. We were all in one place and that rarely happens,” adds Jillionaire. The pairing of Fatman Scoop’s commanding vocals with Fuse ODG’s rousing melodies is also a subtle homage to “Lose Control,” Scoop’s Grammy Award-winning single.

The release of “Sunrise” in 2017 marks another benchmark for Jillionaire and Feel Up Records. The label he founded in Brooklyn, NY celebrates its third anniversary this March. “Sunrise” is Jillionaire’s follow up release to last year’s “Television,” which featured the “The Viking of Soca” Bunji Garlin, and Queens-based producer Richie Beretta.

Re: Hey, new Codes EP ‘Bumps’ Out via Psycho Disco

Keeping the Hip Hop in House music, New York producer, DJ, and turnablist, Codes, has been slanging club records to the underground for some time now. His funky sample-flipping productions have landed him with releases and remixes on Slow Roast, Hed Kandi, Ultra, Main Course, SMOG and more, that have yielded him over a million plays.

Earlier this year Codes released his debut EP on Psycho Disco,’The Pyramids.’ His follow up EP, ‘Bumps,’ goes subterranean with two dirty bass tracks and a remix from The Homie. Title track “Bumps” is the perfect track to pull out at the afters, while “Boom Bapps” will throw you right back to ‘90s NY.

Seven Lions releases melodic Monstercat single “Cold Skin” with live electronic duo Echos

In the midst of his epic North American ‘The Journey’ tour, Seven Lions adds to the journey with his latest ethereal creation– this time in the form of ‘Cold Skin,’ a melodic tune produced with live electronic duo Echos.

Out now on Monstercat, “Cold Skin” blends a cacophony of spellbinding sounds, taking listeners on an adventure through cerebral time and space. The captivating and emotive track is guided by entrancing female vocals from Lexi of Echos, who sings over celestial piano chords and gravity-defying melodies. Continuing Seven Lions’ tradition of transcending musical boundaries and creating thematic artistic works, “Cold Skin” is a hybridized masterpiece that encompasses the soaring vibe of trance with the the peacefulness of acoustic indie rock.

“I want to do something different,” says California native Seven Lions. “Everything doesn’t have to fit into just one genre. I want people to walk away loving different kinds of music and sounds.”

“Cold Skin” is accompanied by a series of tour dates for both of the artists. Seven Lions’ ‘The Journey’ tour is in full swing with roughly 22 more stops along the way and support from Monstercat labelmates Pegboard Nerds and Unlike Pluto. Echos will be hitting several major American cities with their debut live performances in November and December including the duo’s most anticipated show to date at The Roxy in Los Angeles and their debut festival performance on the Main Stage of the SnowGlobe Festival in Lake Tahoe.
