Icarus & Arle release new collaboration on SubSoul

The single is lifted from the new SubSoul & Friends Vol. 2 EP. The EP, out on the 27th January, also features original tracks from the likes of Après, Kideko and US producer Dillon Nathaniel.

Yet another talent emerging from the South West stronghold, the FFRR signees already gathered support from the biggest tastemakers in dance music like Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Mixmag or OWLSA. With confirmed appearances at Annie Mac’s Lost & Found and Hideout Festival in 2017, Icarus are strengthening their position as one of the most promising UK dance acts to watch out for this year.

Speaking of their involvement on the track, Icarus said: “in late 2015, the track really sparked our inspiration so we hit up Arle about being involved with it somehow. It turned out he was in talks with our pals over at SubSoul, so we all had a chat and decided it’d be cool to do an ‘Icarus Edit’. Fast forward to 2017 and we’re excited that it’s finally out there!”

Louis the Child and Vocalist Evalyn star in “Fire” Official Music Video

Last fall dance-pop duo Louis the Child released their vocally-driven, saccharine groove “Fire” featuring LA-based vocalist Evalyn. Today, the teenage tandem shares a raunchy and visually artistic video to accompany the shimmering hit which has received over 10.5 million streams on Spotify alone since its initial release.

Starring the teenage duo and vocalist Evalyn, the brooding video starts at a seemingly run-of-the-mill party that is anything but. Seeing that the LTC boys’ ordinary lighters aren’t strong enough to fuel the party’s energy, Evalyn uses her mysterious heart-labeled box of matches to ignite a flame throughout the soiree. The blazing rainbow flare spreads throughout the bacchanal, adding life and color to everything it touches. A metaphor for how positive energy spreads like wildfire, the spirited music video for “Fire” is a flaming hot complement to one of the top dance hits of the season.

Since the track’s premiere during the rising duo’s Lollapalooza set in late July, the track has received support from the likes of Pete Tong, Diplo, Dillon Francis Sweater Beats and Felix Cartal. Charting on Beatport’s Top 100 Dance list and receiving airplay on radio stations around the world, “Fire” was also featured in two different Diplo & Friends mixes as well as Pete Tong’s 2016 Essential Mix of the Year shortlist.

This Friday Louis The Child will drop their first original track of 2017 called “Love Is Alive” featuring budding songstress Elohim via Ultra Music.

ABOUT LOUIS THE CHILD
Louis The Child’s mellifluous catalogue of grooves speaks for itself. Earlier this year, the duo saw widespread success with their pop collaboration on “Weekend” with Icona Pop, which received over 1.5 million plays on SoundCloud and quickly climbed the ranks on HypeM. Additionally, the band’s own Freddy Kennett co-wrote The Chainsmokers’ “Closer,” which instantly went on to become the #1 song in the world. The numbers speak volumes, with more than 10 tracks charting at #1 on HypeM and double-digit festival appearances, including the likes of Coachella, Lollapalooza, Electric Zoo and Governors Ball, just to name a few.

ABOUT EVALYN
Evalyn is a singer and songwriter based out of Venice beach, CA. Her dogtown noir sound is heavily influenced by hip-hop and her combination of biting lyricism and addictive melodies have led to her style of wine stained soul pop. In October, 2015, her mashup cover of “The Hills x Nightcall” shot up the HypeMachine popular charts claiming the number 2 overall slot. With vocals described as “breathtaking” by Dancing Astronaut, the mashup has accumulated half a million plays on soundcloud.

Inspired by the Refugee Crisis, Major Lazer & Showtek Drop Powerful “Believer” Visual

Fast forward a matter of weeks and Believer has racked up over 50 million streams and become a certified festival anthem thanks to its raw combination of trap and hardstyle elements mixed with powerful vocals lifted from Freetown Collective and Q Major ’s Good Swimma.

Now this uplifting and powerful record has been reimagined in visual form thanks to a stunning video directed by Christopher Louie , known for his recent film XOXO which received the Pete Tong seal of approval. When approaching the new visual for Believer, Christopher’s vision was to create a surreal world through the eyes of a young boy facing an intensely challenging situation:

“The concept of the video was inspired by the images of Omran Daqneesh, the Syrian boy covered in dust in the ambulance after his house was hit by a bomb. Like everyone in the world I was heartbroken by that image but I also saw a glimmer of hope. As dark as the subject matter is the point of our “Believer” video was to capture the resilience of youth and the hope displayed by communities coming together to save victims from the rubble.

If it wasn’t for the support from Sjoerd of Showtek and guidance from Diplo and his creative director Sara, this video would not have turned out as emotionally powerful as it has. They supported us going to the Middle East, shooting with all local cast, crew and keeping it as authentic as possible. There were countless obstacles that go along with shooting in an unfamiliar country but with the help of the local film community we got through them all and created something special in the process.”

Showtek states that ‘not every child grows up under the best circumstances. This video is meant to raise awareness to those less fortunate than us.’ The Believer video encourages fans to provide relief to children affected by the conflict in Syria, by donating to the incredible force of Save the Children. After all, ‘Children are the next generation, they are the future’.

Metroplane share ultimate dancefloor weapon ‘Bahp’

Following closely behind the success of Mumbai Science’s ‘Frequency Response’, which (after finally leaving the sanctity of the dancefloor) has picked up spins from Annie Mac, Pete Tong, B.Traits and Monki, Weapons returns with another sure-fire belter, ‘Bahp’.

For the newly launched Weapons, the mantra is in the name. Harking back to the days where the best dance tracks were made for the club, not the radio, Weapons promises to supply pure dance floor tracks, for DJs and dancers alike. It’s fitting then that Weapons now shares a track from Metroplane, a collective of two highly sought-after producers who’s musical journey together started after a one-off B2B set they played in Asia that went down with the crowd so well, they decided to continue.

‘Bahp’, the latest creation from Alex Metric and Aeroplane’s joint moniker Metroplane, is an infectious house track with warm melodies and layers of chopped vocals that build into an explosive bass led groove. The repetition of the immaculate vocal mantra is a standout feature of this track that has been igniting dancefloors for the past few months.

Both established and emerging artists alike are putting their ‘secret weapons’ in the safe hands of this new label, where every tracks journey starts in the club. Through the release of the most exciting and cutting edge electronic music, Weapons will appropriate the language of war and use it to spread love, not hate.

Citizenn lands on ABODE Records with his new ‘Say It Like U Mean It’ EP – Out Now

UK-based producer and DJ Citizenn will be releasing his new EP, Say It Like You Mean It on ABODE Records. The second release from the London based label is now avaialble in full, with the Montel Remix of ‘Slide’ having been made avaialble as an exclusive on Beatport from October 7th. This EP is one of the first since Citizenn’s LP on Crosstown Rebels ‘Human Interface’.

The four-track EP is a clear representation of Citizenn’s distinctive deep and groovy sound. Slide is a lighter track that includes multiple percussive layers, relating back to Citizenn’s roots as a drummer. The short, sharp beats are combined with a synthesized keyboard melody to create a futuristic feel throughout.

Next up is Ladies free B4 midnight, a softer, melodic track with haunting female vocals drawing the listener in as the track slowly builds into a breakbeat tempo; showcasing Citizenn’s versatility. The last track is a remix of Slide by British DJ and producer Montel who flips the track into a deep, dance-floor ready groove as he speeds up the pace and turns the emphasis on the kick-drums and basslines.

As one of the house scene’s new prodigy’s, Citizenn otherwise known as Laurence Blake has made quite a name for himself in a short space of time. The dreadlocked wonder exploded onto the music scene with a slew of releases via Kerri Chandler’s Madtech label, Waze & Odyssey’s Street Tracks and London-based party people Love Fever Records. Support for his music has come from far and wide, with Radio 1’s Pete Tong throwing his weight behind him as well as many of his peers, and of course, the godfather Mr. Chandler.

Braxton unearths Late Night Mix of ‘Body’

As Brighton-based Braxton gears towards the release of his forthcoming single, he proves his weight in gold by dropping the Late Night Mix of ‘Body’.
With the original record described as a “nice little seg-way into Autumn” by the Metro, and first revealed in The Magician’s ‘Magictape 61’ – Braxton taps into darker, deeper territories with this bass heavy anthem. As a result, the track focuses on powerful electronic elements and faint, echoed vocals – in turn, crafting a multilayered soundscape for late night movers.

Gorgon City release new single ‘Smile’ with Elderbrook

Black Legend Project – Gather Round

Back in 1999 a previously unheard of production duo called Black Legend cheekily sampled the vocals of a Barry White classic and the original bootleg of their track ‘You See The Trouble With Me’ was an instant hit, receiving massive support from Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1 and was arguably the biggest tune among big tunes in Ibiza that year, much to the US soul singer’s irritation. To avoid a costly lawsuit, a second, authorised version was quickly recorded with Elroy Powell AKA Spoonface providing the vocals but Black Legend had already announced their arrival on a global stage; ‘You See The Trouble With Me’ was a Number 1 hit, selling more than 2 million copies, gaining Gold and Platinum Discs in the process.

Original co-member Enrico Ferrari has made way and Ciro Sasso has rekindled the Black Legend Project alone and it would appear he’s lost none of the magic for producing big time tracks with cheeky samples.

The latest offering from Black Legend Project is the House monster ‘Gather Round’ which is out now on French label, Jango Music. Sampling Odyssey’s ‘Use It Up And Wear It Out’ from 1980, Ciro stays true to the original in many ways, adding kicking drums and a floor-shaking bass line before filtering in the vocals to create what is sure to be another firm favourite in clubland and the latest in a long line of hits for this veteran of the scene.

‘Gather Round’ by Black Legend Project is out now on Jango Music.
