Noisey Premeires New Prayers Music Video featuring blink-182’s Travis Barker

NEW YORK, NY (May 26, 2015) – Noisey, VICE’s music and culture channel, is excited to premiere the brand-new music video for “Young Gods,” the new single from the cholo goth pioneers, Prayers.

Directed by Gavin Filipiak, the video vividly documents a street brawl — from its chaotic beginning all the way to the San Diego Central Jail. Famed blink-182 drummer Travis Barker makes a cameo towards the end of the video to help bust Prayers’ vocalist Leafar Seyer out of jail.

Formed in 2013, Prayers have spent the last two years transforming the sound and look of modern goth music with vocalist Leafar Seyer and producer Dave Parley at the helm. Earlier this month, the duo sat down with Noisey for an episode of Noisey Meets to explain how they don’t fit into the cholo or goth scenes, how they ended up joining their San Diego gang, and how their music is about brotherhood.

ABOUT NOISEY
VICE started Noisey back in 2011, criss-crossing the globe documenting the year in music from heavy-hitters to tiny garage bands who usually play for their girlfriends and moms. Since then, it has grown into one of the most unique and successful video-driven music sites on the planet. In 2012, Noisey teamed with YouTube as a premium content provider, and built out a series of shows that take a completely fresh take on the world of music. As an editorial resource, Noisey.com reaches millions of people a month, and has become a go-to source for weird music news, artist-sourced content, and VICE’s signature offbeat coverage. Noisey throws parties and shows worldwide, hosts innovative online listening parties for new records, and produces videos for the best artists in the world, like MIA, Die Antwoord, A$AP Rocky, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Noisey is more than just a music site—music is the lens with which we explore youth culture all over the world.

Crookers “I Just Can’t” out now on Dim Mak + North American Tour Dates

eavily supported by the likes of Jack Ü, Oliver Heldens, Martin Garrix, Pete Tong and Dim Mak’s own Steve Aoki, among others, Crookers “I Just Can’t” feat. Jeremih is poised to be one of the biggest dance music smashes of the summer. The playlist-friendly Radio Edit is available today on iTunes in the Americas, while the more DJ-friendly Original Mix has been bundled with two exciting reworks from GTA and Hybrid Theory for an exclusive Beatport release, also in the Americas.

In support of the single, Crookers hit the road for a North American tour that included featured slots on Dim Mak’s Miami and SXSW events, plus stops in Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington DC. The tour wraps up this month with remaining dates in Salt Lake City, San Diego, New York City and Boston.

Previously described by Pitchfork as “one of the more promising examples of an ongoing cross-pollination between the club and “the club,” Crookers remains one of the most prominent DJs working today. Achieving his first major success in 2008, Crookers’ remix of Kid Cudi’s “Day ‘N Nite” reached top 20 in 21 countries, top five in six different countries, and twice platinum in the United States. 2010 saw the release of Crookers’ debut album Tons of Friends, which featured an all-star lineup that included the likes of Miike Snow, Pitbull and Major Lazer. The 2011 follow up, Dr. Gonzo, proved to be another step forward for Phra, as he once again showcased his ability to produce catchy club beats without compromising his originality.

Don’t miss your first taste of the new Crookers album (due out later this Spring and featuring collaborations with TJR, Zombie Nation, Antwon, STS and more) with the irresistible single “I Just Can’t” feat. Jeremih – and be sure to experience Crookers in a city near you!

Olivver The Kid Joins The American Youth Tour, Releases Attica ’71 Video

Bryan Sammis, otherwise known as Olivver the Kid, has come a long way since deciding to leave his band The Neighbourhood and venture out on his own. As Mostly Junk Food puts it, “Olivver the Kid has made a name for himself as the LA King of Revvival with a successful noir-streak of brooding, smoked out pop with an ear for infectious hooks and nostalgia.”

This year, Olivver the Kid joins Young Rising Sons and Halsey on The American Youth Tour, a springtime romp that begins in California, ends in Massachusetts and criss-crosses the country in between. Some dates are already sold out.

At each show on tour, Olivver the Kid will be doing a special meet and greet exclusively for his fans. More information can be found here.

In addition, Olivver the Kid is gearing up for the release of the video for his hit single “Attica ’71.” The video premiered exclusively via Buzzbands LA on February 4. Also, check out Olivver the Kid’s video series, starting with “Purge.” Then feast your eyes on “Lucy” and “Keep it Sacred.”

There’s a good chance that Olivver the Kid is still giddy over the success of his debut EP, Freak, which came out last October to rave reviews. “Freak is downright irresistible,” affirms The 405, “with its shimmering synths and melodies that will get stuck in your head for days, and paired with his wind-swept, gorgeous vocals gives you a track that sounds like it’s best fit to soundtrack a John Hughes film.”

Listen to Freak here.
