Kicking off its 2016 Asia tour with the fifth edition of ULTRA Korea and a sold out Road To ULTRA Thailand event back in June, ULTRA Worldwide further solidified its status as the most successful festival brand ever this month (September 2016), as it completed a record-breaking run of six huge shows across the continent in the span of just ten days. All told, ULTRA delivered its top-tier experience to over a 350,000 fans in Asia over 10 days, with its multi-platform, high-definition livestream allowing millions more to tune in to the action from all over the world.

“I’m overwhelmed at what we’ve been able to achieve across Asia this year. Producing large-scale events of the highest quality in eight countries, all in the span of a total of three weeks, is an incredible achievement and one that our entire team should be very proud of. There is an immense satisfaction in witnessing hundreds of thousands of fans on the other side of the world immersing themselves and enjoying what we do, all being a part of our Ultra Worldwide family. I have to commend our fantastic team in Asia, without whom none of this would be possible” – Russell Faibisch – Co-Founder, CEO, President, Chairman and Executive Producer of ULTRA Worldwide.

Having delivered a sold-out Road To ULTRA in Singapore in 2015, the hugely popular event was upgraded to full festival status in the ‘Lion City’ as it “broke new ground” (Billboard) over the weekend of September 10 and 11. Armed with ULTRA’s triumvirate of Main Stage, Live Stage and Resistance, the highly anticipated debut edition of ULTRA Singapore welcomed huge international stars, including Above & Beyond, Afrojack, Axwell, Alesso, deadmau5, Kygo, Nero (Live), DJ Snake and many more to its striking, outdoor location directly in front of the world famous MARINA BAY SANDS on Singapore’s Bayfront Avenue. With 45,000 Ultranauts from 67 countries worldwide in attendance over the course of the weekend at this iconic location which has never hosted a music festival before, ULTRA Singapore marked the perfect start to the second leg of this historic run of events across Asia.

Heading due north, the sophomore edition of Road To ULTRA Taiwan took place on Sunday, September 11. Hosted at its original Da Jia Riverside Park home in the capital city of Taipei, more than 17,000 local and international fans alike were treated to electrifying performances from headliners Afrojack, Alesso, deadmau5, DJ Snake and W&W, with support from Quintino and rising Korean star Raiden.

Next on the itinerary was a trip down to the Indonesian archipelago, to the famed ‘Island of the Gods’ – Bali. Returning to the Potato Head Beach Club for a second consecutive year, ULTRA Beach Bali was was once again hailed a huge success. From Jauz and Afrojack jumping in the pool with their fans to deadmau5 and Marshmello providing stunning performances on the Main Stage, Day One proved to kick off the event in the best way possible. Headliners Martin Garrix and Dubfire stole the show on Day Two (on the Main Stage and Resistance Stage respectively), with Galantis, Jauz, Nic Fanciulli, Technasia and many more providing strong support across the beach-front site.

Last but by no means least, on Saturday, September 17, ULTRA Worldwide clocked yet another remarkable first by producing concurrent events in THREE different cities across Asia. Road To ULTRA’s Hong Kong debut ran side by side with Road To ULTRA Philippines and SOLD OUT (for the third year in a row) ULTRA Japan, the latter of which saw over 120,000 fans descend upon Tokyo Odaiba ULTRA Park for an unforgettable three-day finale.

The inaugural Road to ULTRA Hong Kong, held at the new Nursery Park in the West Kowloon Cultural District, packed possibly the biggest lineup for a Road To Ultra event in recent memory. Knife Party, Nero (Live) and Martin Garrix were joined by Carnage, Galantis, Jauz, Marshmello and Thomas Jack. Together, they put this first time event firmly on the Ultra Worldwide roadmap.

Road To ULTRA Philippines moved indoors to Manila’s Mall Of Asia Arena this year, resulting in another spectacular, yet altogether different experience. Returning to the capital for the second consecutive year, this mainstay event welcomed some of the biggest hitters in dance music, including Alesso, Tiësto, Moti and the surprise last-minute addition of Jauz.

Ultra Japan – The Grand Finale, a sold out weekend and the jewel in the crown of Ultra Worldwide’s takeover of Asia. This was a festival spectacular! Complete with brand new, cutting-edge stage designs for both Main Stage and Resistance, and with over 65 international and local acts performing across the weekend, ULTRA Japan provided fans with its most astonishing festival to date. Breaking its previous attendance record with over 120,000 attendees, the festival also brought debut performances to the country from Kygo and Zhu, and delivered one of the most jaw-dropping, theatre-like shows ever seen in the Far East.

The world famous ULTRA LIVE production, presented by UMF TV, streamed the Singapore and Japan festivals to over one million fans around the world. With over 750,000 watching ULTRA live on the official YouTube Livestream and a further 1,000,000 plugging into the exclusive Asia stream hosted on the V Live and LINE platforms, the numbers of those watching online serve up even more proof of ULTRA’s true global appeal.

Having created history once again over the last four months in Asia, ULTRA Worldwide continues to live up to its reputation as the most successful international festival brand in the world. With the Asian tour for 2016 now complete, all eyes are focused on South America, where the brand will look to smash its own record and produce an inconceivable eight events in eight days. From October 7-15, ULTRA Worldwide will host various ‘Resistance’ and ‘Road to ULTRA’ events in Chile, Peru, Bolivia and Paraguay, in addition to the full-scale debut edition of ULTRA Brasil in Rio de Janeiro.

Event News: Music & Arts Cruise Shipsomnia Open Tickets Sales This Saturday 3rd Sept

shipsomnia

As the only festival cruise to truly incorporate art installations and comprehensive themes throughout its experience and with the announcement of its new chapter, ‘Tale of the Kraken’ setting sail in the Mediterranean, Shipsomnia has been gripping the attention of dance fans the world over. Ticket sales for the highly anticipated event are scheduled to open this Saturday Sept 3 at 12:00 pm CEST Barcelona time.

The legends of the sea come to life in this epic vacation and a giant cruise ship, Royal Caribbean’s Brilliance of the Seas, becomes a blank canvas for the creative organisers to transform into an aquatic wonderland and their festival grounds at sea. Various art and in theme décor will fill different rooms of the ship from the grand Theater, main hall, nightclub and the main deck as their main stage. The entire event culminates with their grand finale signature event, The Shipsomnia Ball, a carnival-like theme party where the theme is “anything ocean goes”. Festival goers dress up for the costume ball and there is costume contest where the winners win a free balcony cabin to the next chapter of Shipsomnia and are also crowned the King and Queen of the Shipsomnia Ball.

The organisers are proud to say that this is not a mainstream EDM festival which focuses on “Top 100” DJs but rather focuses on quality underground music in a variety of genres. The last chapter’s line up which took place between Singapore and Thailand, featured dance music legends Pete Tong and Armand Van Helden, Claptone, hip-hop legend Jazzy Jeff and other big names such as Mat Zo, Stanton Warriors, James Zabiela, DJ Marky and Zeds Dead to name a few.

Shipsomnia has chosen the perfect route for its maiden Mediterranean voyage which is attracting travellers from across the globe to fly in for the five day adventure. Casting away from the artistic capital of Barcelona and setting sail to the music mecca of Ibiza where they will get to spend a full 24 hours in the White Isle. This leaves partygoers plenty of time for shopping, customised scenic tours, private parties at villas hosted by Shipsomnia, a beach festival and also time to experience some of the island’s best nightclubs. Then it’s back on the ship where they continue the festivities and set sail to Sète, the “Venice of France”.

“Shipsomnia is not just a festival, we highly focus on the travel aspect and the experience value of each chapter and that’s what makes us so special. We encourage people to #LIVETHEJOURNEY and hope that everyone goes back feeling fulfilled after a journey with us.”

– Alessandra Maderni, Co-Founder & CEO

Tickets for Shipsomnia open this Saturday at 12pm CEST (Barcelona time). For full details on this epic vacation check out their multi-lingual website at www.shipsomnia.com

ULTRA Singapore Drops Phase One Lineup

Having more than proved its worth with the initial Road To Ultra event in 2015, the world’s premier, award-winning and most successful independent music festival brand is expanding its presence in Singapore in September 2016, to a full scale two-day festival experience.

The upgraded event is stacked with Phase One headliners Afrojack, Axwell^Ingrosso, deadmau5, Kygo, DJ Snake and Nero Live, and will form the THIRD major ULTRA festival in Asia alongside ULTRA Korea, which wrapped its 5th year in June 2016, and the upcoming third edition of ULTRA Japan, also in September.

Canadian luminary deadmau5, who is currently mid way through his ULTRA Worldwide 2016 global tour, will have completed a colossal five ULTRA dates this year after his appearance in Singapore. The mau5 sent fans into a frenzy in March this year, throwing down a staggering three unique sets at Ultra Music Festival in Miami. Kygo – the crowned king of a billion Spotify streams – will make his debut at ULTRA Singapore on his very own birthday weekend, bringing his unique and versatile style to the main stage. Scandinavian stalwarts Axwell^Ingrosso will fly the flag for Sweden, British three-piece live electronic band NERO will rep the UK, while everyone’s favorite producer DJ Snake does the same for France. Ticketholders can expect nothing but colossal performances from these main stage masterminds, as the combination of top-notch talent with ULTRA’s unmatched festival production will render fans breathless.

Completing the Phase One lineup, the mysterious masked producer / DJ Marshmello, and Bass House pioneer, JAUZ. This array of top-notch talent will be performing at the stunning new ULTRA Park venue across the weekend, set on Singapore’s very own ‘Bayfront Avenue’. A spitting image of Miami’s Bayfront Park location, and situated right across the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, ULTRA Singapore will be the first event of its kind held at this sensational outdoor venue. The gorgeous new space will not only provide spectacular views of the downtown skyline, but also impeccable vistas of the world famous Marina Bay. Drawing further parallels to Miami, ULTRA Singapore will receive the full treatment, bringing festivalgoers the inimitable MAIN STAGE, ULTRA’s Live Stage, and of course the RESISTANCE stage – a concept featuring techno, deep house and the darker side of dance music, whose popularity is a juggernaut in itself. This weekend is set to capture the minds and imagination of the nation, as ULTRA delivers its critically acclaimed experience.

ULTRA Singapore marks the start of ULTRA Worldwide’s second Asia run this year, with the highly successful ULTRA Korea festival and the sold out Road To Ultra Thailand event having already taken place in June. Classically anthemic and bursting at the seams with sounds the size of mountains, ARMNHMR’s combined efforts with MYRNE pays off in spades with a stunning remix of Adam K and Slander’s “Breathe.” Feel yourself soaring as the song draws you into its musical space, with an emotive lead synth and explosive bass that fit together perfectly from a sonic standpoint, with plenty of room to, well, breathe.

ARMNHMR and MYRNE’s efforts were connected by the internet, working on the remix from their respective locations in Los Angeles and Singapore over a vast time difference — one would work on it while the other slept, and vice versa. The result is a remix that will leave you feeling enthralled, and appropriately breathless.

The “Breathe” remix is available as a free gated download via The Artist Union. Ungated promo downloads with hi-res artwork are available to all writers, curators, DJs, and bloggers on a request-only basis

Defiev – Friday Night Acid (Staar Traxx)

Staar Traxx returns with a psychedelic rolling acid trip courtesy of Defiev.

Born in India, now residing in Singapore. Championed throughout 2015 by label boss Tom Staar and Kryder respectively, Friday Night Acid begins as it means to climax with the catchy acid lead, which propels the energy in the track from the outset, winding up to the awe inspiring drop with the relentless acid loop and thumping kick. The next break takes it down, only momentarily before the climactic final drop, once again shooting from all angles before the outro crushes the sounds into a bass heavy acid lead.
