THUMP and Smirnoff Sound Collective Present “Electric,” a New Film Feat. Kiesza, Laura Jones, Nozinja and more

BROOKLYN, NY (December 3rd, 2015) – Today, THUMP and Smirnoff Sound Collective debut Electric, an original documentary tracing the evolution of Kiesza and Djemba Djemba’s hit “Give It To The Moment” as it was remixed across the globe by five artists: Toy Selectah of Mexico, Nozinja of South Africa, Laura Jones of the UK, Kosmo Kat of Japan and Cassian of Australia.

The five artists selected to remix the track in Electric all represent distinct genres within electronic music and embody Smirnoff’s belief that music is a universal language that unites people, no matter who you are or where you’re from.

In Johannesburg, Nozinja turns the track into a frenetic Shangaan Electro anthem; while, in Tokyo, Kosmo Kat dials up the anime influences already present in the track. Whether it’s Laura Jones’s transformation of “Give It To The Moment” into a quintessential UK deep house banger or Toy Selectah’s incorporation of elements of digital cumbia, each version is imbued with and indebted to its respective origin.

Recognizing how the power of music can bring different cultures and communities together, Smirnoff Sound Collective partnered with Kiesza and Djemba Djemba to make the chart-topping song “Give It To The Moment,” which played as the backdrop for the brand’s #WhatWeBring movement. Created in collaboration with VICE’s in-house agency, VIRTUE Worldwide, the resulting documentary provides a rare look at how some of today’s most creative and diverse artists brought the influence of their unique environments and cultures to create a diverse but unified collection of tracks.

To celebrate the release of Electric, THUMP and Smirnoff Sound Collective hosted a very special screening launch party for the film at Verboten in New York City on December 2nd. Featuring sets by Nozinja, Cassian and Laura Jones, the show was a celebration of Electric and the music that unites each artist involved. Photos from the show can be found below.

Dutch house and electro producer Carl Tricks today releases his brand new bounce anthem, ‘Quack’ – out now via Bingo Players’ Hysteria Records.

Premiered on Smirnoff Sound Collective, Carl Trick’s first original production of 2015 has arrived just in time for the height of the festival season, with ‘Quack’ a high-energy track that screams Main Stage madness from beginning to end. A progressive buildup kicks the track off with a pounding bassline and dark pumping synths. Featuring a vocal sample that promises, “here is something that makes you bounce”, Carl leads listeners straight into a full on Melbourne influenced drop, to provide an unrelenting cut for a label at the very top of its game.

Renowned for creating jaw-dropping anthems, Carl Tricks is no newcomer to the dance music scene. Having collaborated with Bingo Players as well as crafting official remixes for the likes of Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Nadia Ali and Flo Rida, he is a seasoned producer with plenty of tricks up his sleeve. With a slew of impressive originals via Bingo Players‘ revered Hysteria Records, Carl Tricks has made a solid impact and personal mark on the electronic music scene over the past ten years, and shows absolutely no signs of slowing down!
