Tiga vs Audion Return With ‘Nightclub EP’

Tiga vs Audion’s ‘Nightclub EP’ is the third release from North America’s most eloquent techno team-up, and follows the mega-hit ‘Let’s Go Dancing’ and the micro-hit ‘Fever’. The ‘Nightclub EP’ features 3 new productions: ‘Stabbed In The Back’ (lead track), ‘Pink Bells’, and ‘Nonstop’. Released as a Beatport exclusive from 7 April, early support for the EP comes from Jamie Jones, The Martinez Brothers, Boys Noize, Dubfire, Kolsch, Heidi, Gerd Janson, Erol Alkan, Michael Mayer, and more.

TIGA QUOTES
ON THE INSPIRATION
“Living in contemporary society? It’s a joke. But what’s no joke is that rough times call for rough customers, and this EP finds two top techno producers in the mood for ballsiness, reflecting the times with a harder-edged sound, harder-edged artwork, and harder-edged calls for our leaders to remember that the dance floor was built on unity, plurality, and unshacklable animality.”

ON THE TRACK TITLES
“After careful study, we came to the conclusion that the worse the titles, the more ‘techno’ the tracks. A-side ‘Stabbed in the Back’ takes its name from the fact that the track has keyboard stabs in it. Maybe my least favourite title of anything I’ve ever done, which is remarkable considering the runner-up was an unreleased stab-free track called ‘Doctors Without Keyboards.’ ‘Pink Bells’ was originally called ‘The Bells’ but I was told that this guy Geoff had already used it. ‘Nonstop’ got its name from the fact that I was really on a roll with bad titles at the time.”

ON THE CREATIVE PROCESS
“It’s extremely challenging to make instrumental techno with enough of a hook and enough of a funk to stand out, and it’s exponentially more difficult when I know deep down I could make everything alright so easily with just the sound of my voice. We bought a set of Bryan Adams Studio Flash Cards, which instructed us to make the kind of hyper-utilitarian dance tracks we could play in our own DJ sets. Sometimes, even musicians need to be reminded to put themselves first.”

Tiga returned to Turbo Recordings earlier this year with new single, ‘Eye Luv U’, his first new material since 2016’s ‘Blondes Have More Fun’. Co-produced by one half of Paranoid London, ‘Eye Luv U’ is the first in a series of releases from Tiga on Turbo in 2017.

Tiga recently dropped a new DJ mix on his SoundCloud page featuring exclusive music from both Tiga vs Audion, and Tiga, alongside Bjork, The Knife, Martinez Brothers, DJs Pareja, Justin Cudmore, Red Axes, Truncate, Solitary Dancer and more. The ‘Stereo Woke Mix – Live at StereoBar Montreal’ was recorded from his 27th January set at the Canadian club. A full tracklist is not available. soundcloud.com/tiga/stereomix2017

Now in a new partnership with !K7, Tiga’s Turbo imprint is the tastemaker label behind the early success of Chromeo, Gesaffelstein, and Duke Dumont, amongst many others. 2016 saw releases from rising stars Charlotte de Witte, ANNA, Gilmer Galibard, and Autarkic, while this year the label will shift its focus to electro, via cuts from Tiga, Audion, and Dimitri Veimar, alongside collaborative projects between Shaded & Harvard Bass.

Brand new for 2017, Spanish show creators elrow continue to throw away the clubbing rulebook with the launch of their debut festival edition named ‘elrow Friends & Family’ – a one-day event that promises to be their biggest and craziest party to date.

Taking place on Saturday 15th July at the beachfront location of Salou in Spain (approximately one hour south from elrow’s hometown of Barcelona, easily reached via motorway and by high speed train as well as being 10 minutes away from Reus airport) elrow Friends & Family will cater to thousands of fans for an all-encompassing explosion of fun, colour, and confetti. Welcoming party regulars as well as fresh faces for an ‘anything goes’ day of escapism, the 16-hour celebration will include three stages of music that will each have a signature elrow theme in tow. Presenting their trademark playground concept on a grand scale, there will be no expense spared for the brand’s latest milestone with surprises planned at every turn.

With this 360-degree festival set to illuminate the European festival calendar, elrow Friends & Family represents an incredible few years for the elrow team which is underpinned by an unrivalled wealth of musical heritage. Having been running for 6 years now, elrow in its current form was created in 2010 by Cruz and Juan Arnau Lasierra, the sixth generation of entrepreneurs of the Arnau Family who also founded the Monegros Festival and the legendary Club Florida 135 in Fraga, Aragón.

Backed by a passionate and authentic love for event curation, it’s no surprise that the elrow family have gone on to achieve such unbeatable success in recent years. Their focus on fun has rejuvenated the electronic clubbing scene, and from their Barcelona HQ they’ve established residencies in Ibiza, Madrid, London and Amsterdam – holding a staggering 88 shows around the globe in 2016 growing to a planned 130 events in 2017. This summer, they’ll also present takeovers at leading festivals such as Tomorrowland.

Speaking of the festival, CEO and founder of elrow Juanito Arnau explains:

“After seven years offering shows all over the world, at last we’ve found the perfect spot to put on the most creative show ever done by the Arnau family in all their long history. For the first time we’re joining forces with some of the most crazily, imaginative people we’ve met around the world, from countries such as Brazil, Portugal, the United States, South Africa, Holland and the UK. Get ready to experience something you’ve never ever seen before.”

With the golden coasts of Salou in their sights, the future certainly remains bright for elrow. Tickets for elrow Friends & Family will be on sale next Thursday 6th April, with line-up announced in the coming weeks.

AXWELL Λ INGROSSO UNVEIL THEIR HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED NEW SINGLE ‘I LOVE YOU’

Having teased the single on their social media accounts earlier this week, Axwell Λ Ingrosso have finally unveiled their eagerly-anticipated new single ‘I Love You’, featuring Kid Ink.

The single signals a new sound for Axwell Λ Ingrosso, who say: “We wanted to just go heavy in a fresh sound to start 2017 and we think we achieved that – and collaborating with Kid Ink was something we’d wanted to do for a while.”

With over 300 million plays of their music worldwide to date, Grammy-nominated duo Axwell Λ Ingrosso’s singles include the US Billboard Dance number 1 smash ‘Something New’, and the four time platinum-selling ‘Sun Is Shining’ – the video for which currently has over 65 million views on YouTube. Of this collaboration with Axwell Λ Ingrosso, Kid Ink says: “When I first heard the demo, I loved the vibe and melody right off the top. I felt like if I added some lyrics to it then it could really be something special. I’m super happy with how this collaboration came out”

Axwell Λ Ingrosso have announced they will be playing at Creamfield’s Steel Yard London on 28th May, having previously sold out the ground-breaking 10,000-capacity event in Liverpool last year. They will also bring their spectacular headline show back to Belgium’s Tomorrowland Festival mainstage this July. Over in the US they will play a second headline show at Brooklyn’s Depot 52 NYC, having sold out the first date in record time, before performing the prestigious closing set on the Main Stage at Miami Ultra Music Festival this March.

I’m glad to announce that Piek is finally releasing -on February 20th, 2017- his debut album on Sincopat imprint. A unique journey into cinematic synths, contemporary soul music, futuristic hip-hop rhymes, cried-over pop and floating beats.

Last weekend which celebrated Halloween is perhaps the biggest around the world for clubbing, when both JUICY M and DANNY AVILA played to sell-out capacity crowds in Germany and Spain respectively. A sign of the global appeal which both artists now command, the latter took on special significance as Danny returned to his native county and a rapturous reception. Hence rest assured both USB sticks will be loaded and ready for action in London, for what will be Avila’s FINAL UK SHOW OF 2016 plus an eagerly anticipated GALLERY DEBUT for Juicy M. Check out this juicy highlight from the ‘Lanxess Arena’ in Cologne, with the songstress exhibiting a level of showmanship and dexterity behind the CDJs that few others can match.

Grand Pavilion – Touch [New Single & Video]

Australian-bred / London-based duo Grand Pavilion return this week with an incredible new track called ‘Touch’, which also comes with a music video that was created for the STA Travel Sounds ‘Artist Feature’ series.

‘Touch’ takes inspiration from a short trip that Tom Hunt & Stuart McNair (aka Grand Pavilion) took to Spain last summer with a group of close friends for a cruise ship music festival. The track has them exploring themes of escapism and how a certain someone can jolt you awake from feeling caught up in your everyday life.

“The song is about chasing summer and how we daydream about being able to leave our daily life behind and just go explore the world, and then realising that we actually can just pack our bags and leave any time we like” – Grand Pavilion

A gentle beat sits well amongst Grand Pavilion’s dreamy production and delicate vocal melody arrangements. Soft pulsing beats, echoing synths and atmospheric percussions weave together to help portray feelings of suffocation and a strong desire to break free & explore.
