DJ Sneak VS Swedish House Mafia

New York house don DJ Sneak has never been one to shy away from letting the world know his thoughts and feelings on the dance scene, having in the past ragged on people like David Guetta to Paris Hilton. Now it seems the latest act to piss him off are the Swedish House Mafia. In an interview with DJ Mag, Sneak let rip on the trio:

“It’s a sad thing when the Swedish House Mafia is being paid big money to come to the US to play house music. For the record, they do not play house music.”

Following the publishing of the interview, Sneak then continued his spiel on Twitter, to which Steve Angello hit back with a response.

“It’s stupid of you calling out people like that on Twitter,” Angello tweeted. “We always respected you but you show a side that’s fucked up.

Angello then continued: “Sad to see someone like yourself get into the hater small talks…if you got a problem pick up the phone or do it in person.”

Sneak then replied, “Hating never. Exposing the fake shit you guys portray indeed. I come from the Times real djs actually did it with love.”

Wow, retract the claws, fellas, someone’s liable to get scratched. Sneak has recieved back up from artists like Dimitri From Paris, Art Department, Nick Curly and Joakim. What about you? Tell us your thoughts on this whole situation.

Cicada ft. Third Party – Feel (Original Mix)

Today might be the biggest day of releases in the history of house music. That being said, when the Swedish House Mafia releases a track it’s usually a given that it will be the most anticipated out of the bunch. This time around they have competition with Cicada and Third Party’s release of “Feel.”

Swedish House Mafia the highlight of Miami Music Week with two sold out Masquerade Motel Miami shows

After Taking over South Beach in 2011 with their critically acclaimed Masquerade Motel Miami event, Swedish House Mafia promised to return even bigger and better in 2012. Armed with a new downtown Miami location and spread over two days – the first time they’ve ever done headline events on consecutive days – Masquerade Motel was poised to be the signature event of Miami Music Week 2012…and was it ever.

20,000 fans witnessed Swedish House Mafia’s Steve Angello, Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso light up the Miami sky with a stage show that featured state of the art visuals, lasers, and of course, two hours of musical programming from the acclaimed trio. Anticipation built at 840PM as Swedish House Mafia’s famed intro video projected onto the kabuki curtain but the wait soon ended as the stage was revealed and the boys launched into their brand new track, “Greyhound.” Released March 12th on Astralwerks/Virgin, Greyhound is currently #1 on Beatport and debuted in the Top 15 on the UK charts week of release.

For the next two hours Swedish House Mafia treated fans to a nonstop mix of music highlighted by their own tracks and special edits of tracks you couldn’t hear anywhere else during Miami Music Week. Highlights included the fusing together of Swedish House Mafia’s “One” with an accapella of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know;” Swedish House Mafia’s “Save The World” with Axwell’s “Heart Is King” and Ferry Corsten’s “Punk;” and a special version of Axwell, Ingrosso, Angello & Laidback Luke feat Deborah Cox “Leave The World Behind” with Porter Robinson’s “Unison.”

Masquerade Motel was a smash with both fans and the press. The Miami New Times wrote

“Swedish House Mafia’s Masquerade Motel sent so much bass rumbling through Grand Central Park that you could feel it from your toes to your fingers and nose,” while MTV noted, “it was clear that SHM had accomplished an impressive high mark that won’t be easy to match.” The New York Post put an exclamation point on the event commenting,

“Friends and family including Alesso, Harris and AN21 spun, but the highlight was SHM itself, with its elaborate light show and special ability to get people to dance happily to songs about love and loss and redemption while wondering if you need all three to save the world.”

In addition to a headline set from Swedish House Mafia, Masquerade Motel also featured smashing support from Calvin Harris, Alesso, Thomas Gold (Friday only), Otto Knows (Friday only), AN21(Saturday only), Third Party (Saturday only) and NO_ID. and both days of Masquerade Motel went off without any incident.

Swedish House Mafia will next perform at The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 13 and 20 where they’ll close out the main stage. They’re also preparing for a busy summer with a slate of European shows in addition to their Ibiza Ushuaia residency launching July 4 and running every Wednesday thereafter thru August 29th.

Swedish House Mafia – Miami We Are Coming For You

After a whirlwind tour of Australia, Swedish House Mafia are finely tuned and returning to the states for their first American shows since their landmark sold out performance at Madison Square Garden in December 2011.

While only three months in, it’s already been a phenomenal year for Swedish House Mafia. In addition to their first ever tour down under, they released a massive set of remixes for their late-2011 smash “Antidote” and just launched a radical campaign with Absolut that brought forth the brand new track “Greyhound” and its Hollywood feature film style music video.

Fans in attendance at Madison Square Garden and the millions who watched online throughout the world will recognize that Swedish House Mafia opened their set with an early version of “Greyhound.” The buzz spread as fans demanded to know what this new Swedish House Mafia production was all about. Well, as you can see from their new Miami trailer, the boys spent a lot of time in the studio working on material. It seems like a good bet that the newest and previously unheard Swedish House Mafia music will be premiered at Masquerade Motel in Miami on March 23 & 24. You gotta be there to hear it!

A limited number of tickets for the Saturday, March 24 show are still available for purchase via Want Tickets http://bit.ly/masquerademoteltickets. In addition to a headline set from Swedish House Mafia, support the March 24 edition of Masquerade Motel Miami features an all-star line-up of talent including Calvin Harris, Alesso, AN21, Third Party and NO_ID.

“When it came time for Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso to take the stage, it was clear this would be a show like no other Miami has seen.” – MTV

“When Pharrell took the stage in the party’s last moments, raising his arms and facing the video-bedecked DJ booth, where the three dons raised theirs toward him, it was like a baton being passed – hip-hop to dance…” – Billboard

“…Fans were treated to a seaside experience that turned out to be such a hit that it was briefly a top trending Twitter topic worldwide over the weekend” – Blackbook

“There is always a thought in the back of your head that says “if I miss them this time I might want to kick myself in the ass, for missing one of the best shows ever.” We can’t think of another producer/ group of producers who possess this power. Now that’s some serious swagger.” – Dancing Astronaut
